We also asked Mindy about trends for the 2013 event season.

THEO: What are the color trends (color combinations) you are noticing for the year?
MINDY: Oh, well there are a few combinations. Peaches and pinks and the hues in between them, dusty lavender and sage, coral tones combined with fresh orange and fuchsia, and bits of metallic! I love the look working with the soft tones and then pulling in the gradual shade around each. It is a beautiful way to add "texture" with out introducing another flower variety!

THEO: What are the floral trends? Are there any flowers that are making a comeback or any new styles?
MINDY: Well who doesn't love a full, David Austin garden rose or an open peony? The anemone is SO popular this year...so are vining plants. I encourage my clients to view the flower market and the farmers markets closer to their wedding season. There are so many beautiful unexpected flowers that are not often used in wedding design. Agapanthus blooms are amazing when clustered in tight bundles, birch leaves and branches will make almost anything look dainty and elegant. Myrtle, before it opens, has the prettiest bud. Fruits and vegetable, such as white radishes or almonds on branches, add a texture and interest that flowers can't!

THEO: What destination locations do you think will be hot in the next year or so? Or your favorite destinations?
MINDY: Hmm... well MY list is endless! I think that people are gravitating inland. Deserts and mountain weddings are so popular this year along with smaller elopement style weddings- 40-60 guests seems to be the magic number.

THEO: Any other design trends you are noticing?
MINDY: I like to think it's "traditional". Some people think of traditional as stuffy and void of any creativity. It's not. In fact now-a-days it's the new daring - not to mention less likely to fall into the trendy, time stamped category. Containers such as crystal, sterling and pewter  are gorgeous as a base. Limiting the styles of containers also help refine your look...less eclectic. Candles will never go away... tapers are such a treat if you can find a venue that will allow them! Also, inspiration sites like Pinterest definitely have made an impact on the wedding industry. Just be careful...if it has been on pinterest, most likely it has been viewed and pinned by millions. My advice, take what you find and alter it to suit YOU... just use it as an inspiration not a literal interpretation.

Marie Antoinette in Maine

After a New Year's Eve proposal, Jillian Parker and Paul Blakeslee decided to borrow a page from Marie Antoinette’s playbook for their opulent New England wedding. To bring together the couples' home state and their foreign inspiration, they set the stage in Maine, and Sofia Coppola’s "Marie Antoinette" inspired a rich palette of teal, pale pink, and gold.

As seen in Martha Stewart Weddings and Style Me Pretty and as styled by THEO's Creative Director Lisa Vorce and captured by Aaron Delesie, Jillian and Paul's wedding portrays key elements easy to re-create using items at the boutique!

Beautiful ribbon to personalize almost anything, baskets for pretty holding (and even a cake when turned upside down!) votive holders to twinkle, candelabras to make a statement, and mini vases to hold a single flower are just a few. Options and ideas for colors and more are made easy and "shopping this look" is fun and simple!

We hope you'll pop over to THEO to purchase just a few!

Until next time...
